About Huemer Consulting, LLC

In the early 1980s, Roy joined a residential general contractor full-time as a laborer and house framer’s assistant, also working with various subcontractors such as masons, plumbers, and electricians. These early experiences built a strong foundation in the fundamentals of construction.

Over the next two decades, Roy advanced through a variety of positions, including quantity estimator, field engineer, estimator, project manager, chief estimator, and engineering department manager. He managed multimillion-dollar construction projects and oversaw departments that included estimators, project managers, project engineers, purchasing agents, and administrative staff.

In 2013, Roy founded his own consulting company Huemer Consulting, LLC—focused on training contractors to estimate with HCSS HeavyBid® and manage projects using HCSS HeavyJob®, two of the industry’s leading heavy construction estimating and job costing programs.

Roy has trained contractors in 48 of the 50 U.S. states (still waiting on New Mexico and Idaho) and has worked with clients ranging from small construction startups to ENR Top 100 companies with decades—or even centuries—of experience.

In 2023, Roy earned his Certified Professional Estimator (CPE) designation through the American Society of Professional Estimators (ASPE). He also serves on ASPE’s National Education Committee, where he develops and facilitates on-demand estimator training courses available through the organization.
